Theatre for
Young Audiences

Play With Clay Logo.png

In the dark of a summer night, a warm flicker and then another and another. The night briefly fills with the luminescence of fireflies. Just like the elusive spark of the firefly, childhood is brief and magical. Fireflies on the Fringe is a performing arts festival for young audiences where professional and emerging artists bring wonder and magic to the stage for our youngest theatre goers.

Fireflies on the Fringe, Guelph’s Festival of Performing Arts for Young Audiences, will take place during the Guelph Fringe Festival on Saturday August 12 and Sunday August 13. Curated morning performances for young audiences will be presented at the Guelph Civic Museum and the Red Brick Cafe. For our inaugural year, we are excited to present 2X JUNO-nominated children’s artist Beppie, and Puppets and Shadows Theatre from Kitchener-Waterloo with some shadow puppet magic. With full support from the CAFF, Fireflies on the Fringe aims to expand the reach of Fringe across age demographics, and is inspired by Fringe festivals across Canada and across the globe offering programming for young audiences as part of their Fringe programming.
