Dead People Are Liking Things On Facebook

Silence Sounds, 46 Essex Street

Friday 6:30 pm, Saturday 4 pm, Sunday 2:30 pm

Facebook has nearly 3 billion users. Just over 40 million are dead. By 2065, dead users will outnumber the living, rendering the site a digital graveyard. Operating as Internet shrines, electronic memoirs, and virtual gathering places, our social media profiles will persist long after our physical bodies have ceased to function. “Dead People Are Liking Things On Facebook” is a performance lecture exploring how our online afterlives function, their value to those we’ve left behind, and how they can be co-opted for political and economic purposes.
